2011 AMHERST STEELE BASEBALL
 

Coach:	Allan McConihe (7th season, 106-44, .707)
Last Year:	In 2010, 18-8, 11-3 - 2nd place in SWC, #1 seed in Strongsville District, sectional champions.
Top Returners:	Kyle Hagerich, SR., OF/1B/P (Mercyhurst); Tyler Bires, SR, P/C/Corner INF,OF; Austin Walts, SS (Ashland).
Top Pitchers:	Tyler Bires; Pitching depth, couple young sophomores Griffin Weir & Shawn Reid round out staff, along with JR. newcomer Kenny Menefee.
Season Expectations:	Returning seven (7) seniors, who all started; Finished 2nd place in SWC past two years, want to start strong, finish strong.
Key Games:	Exciting non-conference schedule including a trip to Cincinnati-area to play annually state-ranked Mason & Springboro; also play in tough Elyria tourney (annually state-ranked Massillon Jackson in the opening game of Elyria tourney), a Vermilion & Sandusky double-header, Lorain High in a double-header and annually state-ranked Mansfield Madison in a double-header; play St. Ignatius again as well.  On top of the fact that 2010 Final Four Olmsted Falls, Brecksville-Broadview Heights, Westlake & the rest of the tough SWC, the Comets have a challenging schedule.
